Overview

Are you self-motivated individual who is knowledgeable about constructability and construction practices? As a CAD Designer, you will lead and review the creation of layout drawings and schematic diagrams of temporary works plans within the Construction Engineering Group. In this role, you will review the work and and support the learning & of development CAD technicians and early career CAD Designers. You will be a crucial part of transforming project concepts into executable plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

 

The Construction Engineering Group focuses on the “how” when it comes to constructing the work. This team of specialized engineers has extensive experience in designing and constructing various temporary works.

What you will be doing

  • Leads the creation of shop drawings including tolerances, dimensions, materials, and technical project data based on guidance and design specifications.
  • Creates sketches, notes, and other input materials to determine best approach to complete drawings using internal software and programs.
  • Evaluates layout drawings to ensure drawings comply with engineering requirements, Company standards, and project contract specifications.
  • Builds detailed drawings to accurately and completely describe construction design intent and critical elements.
  • Calculates quantities and dimensions within procedural and standard practice limitations and may review the work of others.
  • Assists with the development of and enforcement of company drafting standards.
  • Identifies and provides recommendations for locations and/or structures that need engineering.
  • Reviews the work of CAD Technicians & CAD Designers to ensure accuracy and conformity to Company standards and engineering requirements.
  • Assists team with more technical drafting needs.
  • Maintains knowledge of FlatironDragados' company values and strategic plan.

What we are looking for

  • Technical degree or Associate’s degree in Computer Aided Design, Engineering, or related technical field required.
  • 8+ years of experience with CAD required inclusive of proficiency in using CAD software; AutoCAD certification preferred
  • 5+ years of experience within the Construction industry required.
  • Advanced knowledge of heavy civil temporary works constructability and construction practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to utilize AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with BIM software.
  • In-depth knowledge of and ability to utilize Civil 3D, Revit, and/or other 3D rendering software.
  • Expertise in architectural and mechanical drafting tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of 2D and 3D presentation of designs.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Supports team development, reviews work for accuracy, and ensures alignment with standards and procedures.
  • Leads projects, delivers accurate and timely results, and performs preliminary calculations with minimal guidance.
  • Clearly communicates complex concepts through presentations, drawings, diagrams, and 3D visualization.
  • Self-motivated and able to take direction from leaders to deliver upon objectives.
