We are seeking a detail-oriented and bilingual (English/Spanish) Human Resources Specialist to support various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and employee relations. This role plays a key part in ensuring a positive employee experience and maintaining HR best practices across the organization.
• Assist with full-cycle recruitment activities, including sourcing, screening, and coordinating interviews.
• Support new hire onboarding and orientation, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all required documentation for payroll, benefits, and work authorization.
• Track and monitor 90-day performance reviews for new hires.
• Provide employees with guidance on benefits, payroll, and HR policies and procedures.
• Process employee status changes (promotions, terminations, transfers) with proper documentation and compliance.
• Maintain and update HR records and personnel files in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Assist with prevailing wage compliance, including research, reporting, and communication with internal teams and external agencies.
• Stay current with federal, state, and local employment laws to ensure organizational compliance.
• Conduct periodic HR audits, including personnel files, I-9s, EEO, and affirmative action documentation.
• Support employee relations efforts, including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
• Participate in HR initiatives and special projects to support organizational goals and employee engagement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align HR practices with business needs and promote a positive work environment.
• Coordinate requests for badges and RWP (Roadway Worker Protection) training directly with WMATA.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish, required.
• aPHR, PHR, or SHRM-CP certification, preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of HR experience in recruitment, onboarding, and HR compliance, required.
• Solid understanding of HR processes, employment laws, and documentation requirements, required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with HRIS systems, required.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and effective communication abilities, required.
• Proven ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality, required.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment, required.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, preferred.
• Prior experience in the construction or infrastructure industry is a plus.
